C.G. Jung believed that death is the goal of one’s life and we should be prepared for it. Dan Ross, RN, PMHNP, Jungian Analyst will help us to explore the origins of the tyranny of the medical model in our culture and how hospice and later palliative care emerged to compensate for that tyranny. Dan helps us to assess how we can best navigate the potential archetypal imbalance of these realms of health care. Both the Friday lecture and the Saturday workshop will use film, mythology and fairytales to describe how mortality and immortality fall out of balance in our lives. This imbalance, particularly at the end of life, can create a situation that makes intense complex formation and synchronicities very likely. Dan will guide us in reflection and exercises to help us to better imagine the emotional and embodied experience of loss at the end of life. We hope this will help us each clarify what is meaningful.

Daniel Ross, RN, PMHNP, and Jungian Analyst brings his unique blend of medical, psychiatric, and analytical perspectives to the field of end-of-life care.  As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Dan sought a deeper understanding within himself and within his hospice work. His curiosity led him to complete the two-year Clinical Training Program at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. He continued his studies and completed the Institute’s Analyst Training Program.  As a private practitioner in Chicago’s northwest suburbs, Dan serves adult clients seeking Jungian psychoanalysis. In addition to his private practice, Dan is active in leadership at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. He serves as Co-Director of the Jungian Psychotherapy Program, the Jungian Studies Program and is a Training Analyst for the Analyst Training Program.
