The Jung Education Center of Cleveland was founded in 1989 to provide a forum for educational programs based on the work of C. G. Jung. These programs support individuals in the pursuit of meaning in life and contribute to an evolution of consciousness in our communities. The Center explores Jungian thought through organized lectures, experiential workshops, study, and dialogue.

Jung Cleveland has a policy of non-discrimination on the basis of race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, age, gender, and sexual orientation. As Jungians we are committed to increasing our individual and collective consciousness of systemic racism and all forms of oppression. We recognize our responsibility to challenge these systems and actively work to end systemic oppression.

Carl Gustav Jung

Born in Keswill, Switzerland on July 26, 1865
Died in Kustnacht, Switzerland on June 6, 1961

Many consider Carl Jung to be the father of modern depth psychology. His research, personal experience and work with severely mentally ill individuals led to his identifying and working with unconscious energies within the human psyche.

Jung was a student of Sigmund Freud’s for many years. They parted ways both personally and professionally when they could not rectify their theoretical differences.

In his work with mentally ill patients, Jung noticed patterns and symbols which were evident across individuals and within the collective. His findings led him to expand beyond just the study of psychiatry and medicine and included anthropology, archaeology, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies.

Some of the ideas which Jung articulated include: the anima and animus, archetypes, collective unconscious, complexes, dream interpretation, individuation, persona, personality typology, shadow, and many others.

Our organization aspires to introduce Jungian concepts to the community and to dive more deeply into certain concepts for those in the fields of psychology, social work and religion. We offer Continuing Education Units for our more in-depth programs.
