Carl Jung considered individuation as a goal of analytical psychology. He felt individuation was a process of differentiation and the development of the individual personality. This process allows an individual to become separate, unique, and connected to one’s own path. The aim is to become familiar with personal strengths and limitations and, at the same time, develop a deeper appreciation of humanity.
Laura Chapman, MA, LSW, is a Jungian Analystand a psychotherapist who has been in private practice since 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed an undergraduate degree in Dance from Bennington College (1973) and received an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch West (1977). Laura completed the three-year post-graduate Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and their Intimate Systems Training (1995).
Laura’s early work in improvisational dance and movement formed an understanding of the body as a means for symbolic expression. Her early career as a psychotherapist included a somatic approach to develop awareness between the body and mental/emotional processes. She brings this embodied approach to analysis.
Laura is a member of Jung Cleveland, the Pittsburgh Society of Jungian Analysts, the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts (IRSJA), and the International Association for Analytical Psychology (IAAP).
