The Philosophers’ Stone: Alchemy and the Art of Illumination

Alchemy and analysis require a descent into the depths and into some of the darkest parts of the soul. By developing the capacity to stay with and engage with these painful and wounding experiences we can discover the roots of a transformative process hidden in the fire and shine, of darkness itself. Alchemy points the way into these depths and beyond to an art of illumination and wholeness that many patients experience as initiating and healing.
In this talk the goal of the opus will be explored in the context of analysis in some case studies and amplified by seeing the process in relationship to some mystical traditions and archetypal images of the transformation process.
